About Middle School League

FC Frederick's Middle School League (MSL) is a summer 7-a-side league designed to tap into players' interest in school-based sports participation while utilizing, as much as possible, the expertise and dedication of the FC Frederick coaching staff and community. FC Frederick's Middle School League (MSL) is a summer league designed to tap into players' interest in school-based sports participation while utilizing, as much as possible, the expertise and dedication of the FC Frederick coaching staff and community. Players are encouraged to register online for the league in early May. Team formation will be posted in early to mid-June. Teams are based on Frederick County High School draw areas. These “schools” could be combined depending on registration numbers. Players from outside Frederick County will be accommodated and placed on teams as rosters dictate, OR, if there are enough registrations, their local high school as well. 

Players will be sorted into teams generally by grade with divisions for Pre-MSL (current school year 2nd and 3rd graders), Junior Varsity (current school year 4th, 5th and 6th graders), and Varsity (current school year 6th, 7th and 8th graders). This is an open league and players of all levels are welcome.

Teams play 2 games per week, one weekday and one Sunday, beginning the last week in June through the last week in July for an 8 game season. Pre-MSL teams play 5v5 (4 field players and a goalie) 2x20 minute half, 5 minute halftime; Junior Varsity and Varsity teams play 7v7 (6 field players and a goalie) 2x30 minute half, 5 minute halftime. Referees for all games.

Playing days for age groups are
Pre-MSL, Girls JV and Girls Varsity – Tuesday and Sunday
Boys JV and Boys Varsity – Wednesday and Sunday
Make up, overflow games - Thursday or Friday as necessary
