About Frederick Futsal

frederick futsal league

The Frederick Futsal League (FFL) brings futsal to Frederick County each winter!

Welcome to the Frederick Futsal League—an exciting fusion of skill, speed, and teamwork that brings the thrill of soccer indoors during the colder months. Our league provides a dynamic platform for young players to hone their futsal skills in a fast-paced, controlled environment. With a focus on technical proficiency, strategic thinking, and quick decision-making, our league offers a unique developmental experience. Join us for a season of fun, growth, and camaraderie as we heat up the winter with the passion of futsal.

The FFL uses a 5 v 5 format (four field players + goalkeeper), with two 23-minute halves (running clock), and unlimited "on the fly" substitutions. Referees are provided, with games played in Frederick-area gymnasiums.

Futsal is the FIFA recognized form of small-sided indoor soccer (the word is a contraction of the Spanish 'fútbol sala'). It is played between two teams who each have five players on the court at any one time, with rolling substitutes and a smaller ball that is heavier and less bouncy than a traditional soccer ball (see What is futsal?).
